Marrakech Half Term Villa Holidays: Oct, Feb, Easter, May

A Marrakech half term villa works in every school break of the 2026-27 year, but each break is different. October half term (26 to 30 October 2026) averages 28.5 °C by day; February half term falls in the expected Ramadan period and needs a heated pool; at Easter a heated pool still helps, and May half term suits any pool.

This guide is written for families in England who plan their holidays around school dates and want a private villa rather than a hotel. It takes each break of the 2026-27 school year in turn: the dates most councils have published, what the long-term weather records say about Marrakech in that week, what else is happening in Morocco at the same time, and which villas in our catalogue suit it. Weather figures come from the WMO climate normals 1991-2020, Marrakech-Menara station. Villa facts and prices come from the listings on this site, and every price is a starting price per night, not a quote for a specific week.

  • Three of the four breaks overlap with something in Morocco: Unity Day on 31 October, the expected month of Ramadan in February, and Eid al-Fitr about two weeks before the Easter holidays.
  • Seven of our 38 Marrakech villas combine a heated pool (or one heated on request) with a starting price under €1,000 a night, which is the short list we would start from for February.
  • At starting prices, a Saturday-to-Saturday week in a five-bedroom villa begins at €4,550 (Villa Harmony, Villa Perla or Villa Petra), which is about €570 per person for two families of four, before extras.

The 2026-27 school holidays and Marrakech at a glance

The table below puts the dates published by most English councils next to the Marrakech climate normals for the same month. The temperatures are averages over 30 years, so a given week can be warmer or cooler.

School break (England) Usual dates 2026-27 Marrakech average high / low Also happening in Morocco
October half term Mon 26 to Fri 30 October 2026 28.5 °C / 15.7 °C (October) Unity Day, a national holiday, on Saturday 31 October
February half term Mon 15 to Fri 19 February 2027 20.7 °C / 7.6 °C (February) Ramadan, expected to begin around 8 February
Easter holidays Fri 26 March to Fri 9 April 2027 (Easter Sunday 28 March) 23.6 °C / 10.3 °C (March), 25.7 °C / 12.4 °C (April) Eid al-Fitr expected around 9 or 10 March, before the holidays start
May half term Mon 31 May to Fri 4 June 2027 29.4 °C / 15.2 °C (May), 33.6 °C / 17.9 °C (June) Nothing specific in our sources

Are half term dates the same everywhere in England?

Not exactly. Each local authority publishes its own term dates for the schools it runs, and academies, free schools and independent schools can set different ones. For 2026-27, though, the council calendars we checked line up closely:

  • Herefordshire Council: half terms 26 to 30 October, 15 to 19 February and 31 May to 4 June; spring term ends Thursday 25 March.
  • Bolton Council: the same three half terms; summer term starts Monday 12 April and ends Friday 23 July 2027.
  • Southwark Council (London): the same half terms; spring term ends 25 March and summer term starts 12 April.
  • Plymouth City Council: publishes its breaks weekend to weekend, for example 24 October to 1 November 2026 and 26 March to 11 April 2027, which covers the same school days.

So for most families in England the realistic villa weeks are Saturday 24 to Saturday 31 October, Saturday 13 to Saturday 20 February, one or two weeks from Friday 26 March, and Saturday 29 May to Saturday 5 June. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland follow different calendars, and a school can add training days at either end of a break, so check your own school’s letter before you send us dates. Easter itself is fixed nationally: GOV.UK lists Good Friday on 26 March and Easter Monday on 29 March 2027 (GOV.UK bank holidays).

Is Marrakech warm enough for October half term?

Yes, on the long-term record. October in Marrakech averages a high of 28.5 °C and a low of 15.7 °C, with about 24 days reaching 25 °C and 12 days reaching 30 °C in an average year. Rain is limited: 2.4 days with at least 1 mm and 19.1 mm for the whole month. In practice that means swimming in the afternoon, eating outside in the evening, and a jumper for breakfast on the terrace.

What is different in October 2026

Two details are worth knowing. First, the clocks: the UK goes back to GMT on Sunday 25 October 2026 (GOV.UK clock changes), while Morocco normally stays on GMT+1 outside Ramadan, so during half term Marrakech should be one hour ahead of the UK. Second, Saturday 31 October is now a Moroccan national holiday: the Royal Office proclaimed it “Aid Al Wahda” (Unity Day) in November 2025 (maroc.ma, statement of the Royal Office). It falls on your departure day if you travel Saturday to Saturday, so allow a little extra time and check opening hours if you plan anything that morning. Our guide to Morocco’s public holidays explains how holidays affect a trip.

Which villa for October

Because the days are still warm, a heated pool is a comfort rather than a necessity in October; families with young children who dislike cool water may still prefer one. This is the break where the cheapest villas in our catalogue make the most sense. Villa Alice (three bedrooms, from €360 a night) has a living room with a fireplace looking onto its private pool, and Villa Noor (five suites, from €660) comes with a cook, a housekeeper and a caretaker, with meals charged at the cost of the groceries plus delivery, according to its listing. Our villas under €1,000 a night page shows all of them side by side, and our October guide covers what to do in the city.

February half term 2027: Ramadan, cool evenings and heated pools

February is the coolest of the four breaks. The normals give an average high of 20.7 °C, an average low of 7.6 °C and only about five days in the month that reach 25 °C. Days are often sunny and pleasant for walking; evenings and early mornings are cold, and there are on average 3.7 days with at least 1 mm of rain.

Half term inside the month of Ramadan

The Islamic calendar follows the moon, so Ramadan moves about eleven days earlier each year. Astronomical calculations reported by The National put the expected start of Ramadan 2027 on Monday 8 February, with Eid al-Fitr on 9 or 10 March (The National, 9 September 2026). Morocco announces the start only after its own moon sighting, so the date can move by a day. Either way, February half term is expected to fall entirely within Ramadan.

For a family in a private villa this changes less than people expect, but it does change a few things. Many Moroccans fast from dawn to sunset, so daytime rhythms in the city slow down and evenings get busier. If the villa has staff, they may be fasting while they cook for you, so it is considerate to agree meal times in advance. Our Ramadan guide for visitors covers opening hours, eating in public and etiquette.

There is also a clock detail. In 2026 Morocco moved its clocks back to GMT for Ramadan, from 15 February to 22 March, according to the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform (Le360, February 2026). If the same practice is applied in 2027, Marrakech will be on the same time as the UK during February half term. The 2027 dates will be announced closer to the time.

Which villa for February

For February we would only suggest a villa with a heated pool, and ideally a fireplace for the evenings. Fourteen of our 38 Marrakech villas list a heated pool: eight describe it as heated and six as heated on request. Four of them also describe a fireplace: Villa Petra (from €650, pool and hammam heated on request, fireplaces in its two lounges), Villa Lucia (from €750, living room with fireplace, pool heated on request), Villa Mansouria (from €2,750) and Olive Palace (from €6,250). Villa Mangue (six bedrooms, from €750) describes its pool as heated year-round. Our guide to heated pool villas in winter explains the difference between “heated” and “on request”, and the heated pool villas page lists every one.

Easter 2027 in Marrakech: after Eid, before the heat

Easter Sunday falls on 28 March 2027, and in the council calendars we checked, schools break up on Thursday 25 March and return on Monday 12 April. If Ramadan starts around 8 February as expected, it will be over by then, and Eid al-Fitr, expected around 9 or 10 March, will have passed about two weeks before the holidays begin.

Late March and early April sit between two climates. March averages 23.6 °C by day and 10.3 °C at night, and it is the wettest month of the year in the normals, with 35.2 mm and 4.7 rain days. April is warmer and drier: 25.7 °C and 12.4 °C, 2.9 rain days and around 16 days reaching 25 °C. For the first week of the holidays a heated pool still helps; by the second week most families swim in an unheated one.

Another clock change lands in the middle of the holidays. The UK moves to British Summer Time on Sunday 28 March 2027, and if Morocco has returned to GMT+1 after Ramadan, as it did in 2026, the two countries will then be on the same time.

A one-week or two-week Easter stay

Easter is the break where a two-week stay is possible, and the arithmetic changes. At starting prices, fourteen nights in Villa Perla (five suites, small gym, hammam, pool heated on demand, from €650 a night) come to €9,100 before extras. For two weeks, staff on site matter more than for one: Villa Lyla (four bedrooms, from €712) has a cook, a maid and a caretaker who do the shopping after offering you a choice of dishes, and Villa Idir (four suites on the Amelkis golf course, from €650) has staff from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., including a cook. Our villas with a chef and staff page groups the others. For ideas, see our guides to Marrakech in March and Marrakech in April.

May half term: the warmest school break

The May half term week straddles the end of May and the start of June. The normals give 29.4 °C and 15.2 °C for May and 33.6 °C and 17.9 °C for June. In an average June, about 24 days reach 30 °C and three reach 40 °C, while rain almost disappears (0.6 days). This is pool weather for everyone, and a heated pool is no longer a reason to choose one villa over another.

What matters instead is shade and cool rooms. Only two villas under €1,000 a night mention air conditioning in their listing text: Villa Harmony (reversible air conditioning, five bedrooms, from €650) and Villa Noor (air conditioning in each suite, from €660). For any other villa, ask us to confirm in writing which rooms are air-conditioned. Pool size also matters more with children in the water all day: Villa Asana (seven bedrooms, from €1,120) has a 17 by 6 metre pool whose depth runs from 20 cm to 1.80 m, a shallow end that suits small children. Our May guide lists what to do in the city.

What does a half term week in a Marrakech villa cost?

Our catalogue lists 38 villas in and around Marrakech, with starting prices from €360 to €6,250 a night. Fifteen of them start under €1,000. The table shows the cost of seven nights at each villa’s starting price, which is the floor, not a quote: prices for a given week depend on the dates, the length of stay and the number of guests, and school holiday weeks can be quoted above the starting price.

Villa Bedrooms 7 nights from Best suited to
Villa Alice 3 €2,520 October (fireplace for cooler evenings)
Villa Harmony 5 €4,550 Any break: heated pool, reversible air conditioning
Villa Perla 5 €4,550 February, Easter (pool heated on demand)
Villa Petra 5 €4,550 February (heated pool on request, fireplaces)
Villa Noor 5 €4,620 October, May (cook, air conditioning)
Villa Mangue 6 €5,250 Large groups, any break (pool heated year-round)
Villa Lucia 5 €5,250 February, Easter (chef, fireplace, home gym)
Villa Inocencia 4 €5,600 Any break (heated pool)
Villa Eva 5 €6,965 Any break (heated pool, Samanah golf estate)

Source: starting price per night on each villa’s page, multiplied by seven; heating, air conditioning, fireplace and staff as written in the listing text.

Split between families, the numbers look different. Two families of four sharing Villa Harmony for a week pay from €4,550 in total, about €570 per person. Three families of four in Villa Mangue, with six bedrooms, would pay from €5,250, about €440 per person, once the owner confirms twelve guests. Flights, transfers, food and any staff or chef not included in the listing come on top. Our article comparing a villa and a hotel per person goes through those extras.

Which villa for which school break?

If you only remember one thing from this guide, make it this: the right villa depends on the month more than on the budget.

  • October half term: any villa works; choose on location and price. Villas close to the centre save driving time on a short week; our villas near the centre page lists them.
  • February half term: heated pool first, fireplace second, and staff who can cook if you prefer to eat in during Ramadan evenings.
  • Easter: a heated pool for late March; a cook for a two-week stay; a garden big enough for children to run around.
  • May half term: shade, air conditioning confirmed in writing, and a pool large enough for a whole family at once.

For families travelling with very young children, our guide to choosing a family villa in Marrakech covers pool safety, stairs and bedroom layouts, and our list of family-friendly things to do helps fill the days.

How to ask for a half term villa

Because most councils in England share the same dates, many families are looking at the same Saturday-to-Saturday weeks. We cannot tell you in an article which villas are free for a given week; only a request for your exact dates can. To get a useful answer in one exchange:

  1. Give the exact nights. For example, Saturday 13 to Saturday 20 February 2027, and say whether you could shift by a day.
  2. Give the ages of the children. It decides cots, bed layouts and whether a shallow pool matters.
  3. Say what is essential. Heated pool, air conditioning, cook, airport transfer: anything that would rule a villa out.
  4. Read the conditions before paying. Our article on deposits, contracts and cancellation lists what to check.

Send your dates through our contact page, or browse all our villas in Marrakech first.

Frequently asked questions

When is October half term 2026?

Most councils in England have set October half term for Monday 26 to Friday 30 October 2026. Herefordshire, Bolton and Southwark all publish those dates, but academies and individual schools can differ, so check with your school.

Is Marrakech hot in October half term?

Marrakech is warm rather than hot in late October: the 1991-2020 normals give an average high of 28.5 °C and a low of 15.7 °C for October. Expect sunny afternoons by the pool and cooler evenings.

Is February half term 2027 during Ramadan in Morocco?

Very probably. Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around 8 February, with Eid al-Fitr around 9 or 10 March, so half term (15 to 19 February) should fall inside it. The exact start depends on the moon sighting in Morocco.

Is Marrakech warm at Easter 2027?

Mild to warm. Easter Sunday is 28 March 2027; the normals give 23.6 °C by day and 10.3 °C at night for March, and 25.7 °C and 12.4 °C for April. A heated pool helps in the first week of the holidays.

How much is a villa in Marrakech for half term?

At starting prices, a week in our catalogue begins at €2,520 for three bedrooms (Villa Alice) and €4,550 for five bedrooms (Villa Harmony, Villa Perla or Villa Petra). Prices for school holiday weeks depend on the dates, so ask us for a quote.

Do I need a heated pool for half term in Marrakech?

Only in February and, for some families, in late March. In October and at the end of May, average daytime highs of 28 to 34 °C make an unheated pool comfortable for most people.
