How to choose

Three levels of service, three price bands

“Staffed” covers everything from a cook who comes in for the day to a household of ten led by a butler. Reading the listings, the villas above fall into three groups, and the starting price follows the size of the team.

A cook and a housekeeper

From €650 to €1,280 a night. A small daytime team that cleans, shops and cooks: Villa Idir, Villa Noor, Villa Lyla and Villa Arwa. Right for families who want meals at home without a formal service.

A chef in the kitchen

From €750 to €6,250. The meal is the point: Villa Lucia‘s chef prepares dinner, Villa Dar Tillili has a private chef on demand, and Villa Savannah and Olive Palace have chefs cooking Moroccan or international food.

A butler and a household

From €1,450 to €3,940. Service in the hotel sense: Villa Marhaba and Villa Zagora with a butler on call 24/7, and the full teams of Villa Andalucía, Palais Mauresque and Villa Azarenka.

Read the hours

Daytime teams go home in the evening. At Villa Arwa the housekeepers work from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., so plan dinners out or a cold supper; at Villa Idir the staff stay until 11 p.m., late enough for dinner at home.

Who it suits

When a staffed villa is worth it, and when it is not

  • Families with young children: breakfast ready, rooms done, and a cook who adapts to the children’s hours. Villa Noor and Villa Lyla are both under €720 a night.
  • Groups celebrating: a butler such as Villa Andalucía’s, “expert in creative cocktails”, turns the terrace into the evening’s venue.
  • Special diets: Villa Azarenka’s head chef prepares dishes catering to all diets, and its manager speaks English, German and French.
  • Golfers out all morning: Villa Idir is on the front line of the Amelkis golf, with lunch waiting when you come back.

Less suited: travellers who want the house entirely to themselves after breakfast, or who plan to eat out every night. For them, housekeeping only, as at Villa Asana, with meals added when wanted, often makes more sense. Weighing a villa team against a palace hotel? Before you book

Six questions to ask about the staff

Listings describe the team, not the terms. These are the points we confirm with the owner for your dates, so there are no surprises on arrival.

Salle à manger de la Villa Andalucía
The dining room at Villa Andalucía, served by its butler and waiter.
  • Which hours the team works, and whether anyone stays overnight
  • Whether cooking is included in the rate or charged per meal
  • How groceries are paid: at cost with receipts, by a daily budget, or in a set menu price
  • Which languages the staff speak, if you need English, French or German
  • Allergies and diets: send them before arrival so the first shop is right
  • Tipping: expected in practice at the end of a stay, though never compulsory

Who looks after you, villa by villa

A cook in the house. Villa Lyla has a cook, a maid and a caretaker; the staff offer you a choice of Moroccan or European dishes, do the shopping and cook. At Villa Noor the on-site team is a cook, a housekeeper and a caretaker, and you only pay for the groceries at cost price plus delivery. Villa Idir, on the Amelkis golf, has a cook for meals and breakfasts, with staff from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Villa Arwa, near the Majorelle garden, has a housekeeper-cook and a housekeeper from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A chef. Villa Azarenka has a head chef, Palais Mauresque a permanent staff of five led by chef Fakkhredine, formerly of Sofitel Rabat. At Villa Lucia dinner is prepared by the villa’s chef. Villa Savannah and Olive Palace have chefs serving Moroccan or international cuisine, and Villa Dar Tillili has a private chef on demand.

A butler. Villa Azarenka (with a manager, three maids and night guards), Villa Andalucía (with a manager, a waiter, a kitchen team and chambermaids), Palais Mauresque (Yahya, formerly butler at the Royal Mansour), and Villa Marhaba and Villa Zagora in the Palmeraie, each with a butler, Youssef, available 24/7.

A driver with the villa

Only two listings mention one. Villa Asana includes daily housekeeping and offers breakfast, half-board or full-board meals and chauffeured car services as extras. Domaine Beldi offers car rental or chauffeur services, and a babysitter can be arranged. For the other villas, tell us what you need with your dates. Our guides explain what a fully staffed rental includes, why book a villa with a private chef and the options for airport transfers.
