Running a yoga retreat in a Marrakech villa costs far less in accommodation than most leaders expect: at our published “from” rates, a whole villa works out at about €375 per participant for four nights in a 10-bed house, and about €1,700 for a week in an 18-bed estate with its own yoga studio, depending on the house, the group size and the number of nights. Retreat marketplaces sell comparable Marrakech retreats of four to seven nights at US$1,450 to US$1,700 per person sharing, with food, teaching and the host’s margin included. This guide gives you the numbers to price your own retreat, the commission a marketplace takes, and what to check in a house before you sign.

In short

  • Accommodation per participant, two to a room, at “from” rates: €375 at Villa Lucia (8 people, 4 nights), €980 at Villa Ellie (12 people, 7 nights), €1,724 at Villa Azarenka (16 people, 7 nights).
  • Marketplace prices we opened on 14 October 2026: US$1,452 per person sharing for 4 nights (10 guests), US$1,697 for 7 nights, £1,035 for 7 nights in a twin room.
  • BookRetreats charges hosts commission on the full booking (15% in its worked example) plus a 3% payment processing fee: build it into your price.
  • Count a bed for yourself and your teacher: a 12-bed villa is a 10-participant retreat.
  • Rates vary by season, and food, staff extras and outside teachers are agreed per villa: ask us for a quote on your dates.

Why retreat leaders rent a whole villa

A retreat centre or a hotel sells you rooms and a shared shala on its terms. A private villa sells you the whole house: your timetable, your menu, no other guests by the pool and nobody else in the hammam. For a leader, it also changes the economics. You pay one price for the property, whatever you charge your participants, so every extra place you fill goes almost entirely to your margin.

The guest side of a villa retreat (the shape of a day, styles of practice, hammam and Atlas walks) is covered in our guide to yoga and wellness retreats in a Marrakech villa. This page is for the person who has to make the sums work: the teacher, studio owner or organiser who books the house and sells the places.

Accommodation cost per participant: the table

We took five villas from our collection that suit a group retreat and divided each one’s published “from” price per night by the number of participants. Two people share each room, except where the listing gives its own guest capacity. Prices are the minimum rates shown on each villa page, checked on 14 October 2026. They are not quotes: rates vary by season and dates, so ask us for the price on your dates.

* Every bed is taken by participants, which leaves no bed for you or your teacher. In practice, take one column to the left, or choose the next villa up. Figures are accommodation only, rounded to the nearest euro, before food, teaching, transfers and any tourist tax.

Two patterns stand out. First, the smaller houses are very cheap per head when full: Villa Lucia at 8 participants plus a leader and a teacher costs €375 a head for four nights. Second, the large estates only make sense at 14 to 16 participants and above. For a week at Villa Azarenka, the share is €3,448 a head with 8 people and €1,724 with 16: half the price for the same house. What retreat marketplaces charge participants

We opened three Marrakech-area yoga retreats sold to the public on 14 October 2026. The prices are per place, include far more than a bed, and are set by organisers who also pay the platform. They show what participants are used to paying for a similar trip.

Retreat (where it is sold)Venue and lengthShared roomPrivate roomIncluded
Yogavibe luxury yoga and Pilates retreat (BookRetreats)Private villa about 30 minutes from the airport; 4 nights, 17 to 21 March 2027; maximum 10 guestsUS$1,452US$2,012Full board by a private chef, two classes a day, a workshop, an Atlas hike. Airport transfers extra
8-day yoga and Marrakech oasis retreat (BookRetreats)Boutique hotel with eight suites on the edge of the palm grove; 7 nights; up to 24 participantsUS$1,697US$2,4277 breakfasts and 7 dinners, 12 classes of about 90 minutes. Transfers, hammam and excursions extra
Iyengar yoga retreat with Robert Ashman (Iyengar Yoga UK)Yoga centre in the Ourika Valley, about 40 minutes from Marrakech; 7 nights, 31 October to 7 November 2026£1,035.15 (twin, private bathroom); £821.66 (triple), as listed by room type£1,431.82 (single, private bathroom)All classes, airport transfers, accommodation and all on-site meals

Set the Yogavibe retreat against the first row of our table: four nights, ten guests, a private villa. The participant pays US$1,452 for the place; the accommodation share of a 10-bed villa such as Villa Lucia is €300 to €375 a head at its “from” rate. The difference pays for the chef and food, the teacher, the hike, the platform’s commission and the organiser’s margin. That is the space your own pricing has to fit into.

Read the commission rules

BookRetreats states that its commission depends on the visibility rate the host chooses, applies to the total booking amount (including extras added later), and uses 15% in its worked example; a 3% payment processing fee is also deducted from the payout. Source: BookRetreats, “How do fees work”, checked 14 October 2026. Places you sell directly to your own students carry no such fee.

A break-even example

This is an illustration, not a quote. The villa price is Villa Hazel’s published “from” rate; every other line is a placeholder for your own figures. We do not publish our chefs’ full-board rates or what extras cost: ask us and we will give you the real numbers for your dates.

LineInputTotal
Villa Hazel, 7 nights€1,200 a night, “from” rate€8,400
Food for 12 (10 participants, leader, teacher)Your input: €45 per person per day, as an example€3,780
Teacher’s feeYour input€2,500
Transfers, an outing, hammam sessionsYour input€1,500
Total cost of the week€16,180

To break even, divide the total by the number of paying participants. If you take the bookings through a marketplace, divide again by what reaches you after fees. With 15% commission and a 3% processing fee on the amount paid through the platform, you keep about 82% of the price if participants pay it all there.

Paying participantsBreak-even price, sold directlyBreak-even price, sold through a marketplace (15% + 3%)
10 (villa full)€1,618€1,973
8 (two places unsold)€2,023€2,466

Food at €45 a head was charged for all 12 in both rows, which slightly overstates the cost with 8 participants. The lesson holds anyway. With the same house and the same costs, two empty places add about €400 to the price each participant has to pay just to break even, and marketplace fees add another €355 to €445. Your margin comes on top of that.

Single rooms: what they really cost you

A participant who wants a room alone takes two places’ worth of accommodation. At the “from” rates above, one bedroom costs €150 a night at Villa Lucia, €200 at Villa Hazel, €210 at Villa Ellie, €250 at Villa Athena and about €358 at Villa Azarenka (the whole-villa price divided by its bedrooms). On a 7-night week at Villa Hazel, a single room costs you €1,400 against €700 for a shared place, so your single supplement on accommodation alone should be at least €700. The marketplaces above charge between US$560 and US$730 more for a private room, or £397 at the Iyengar retreat.

What to check in the villa before you sign

These details come from our listings. Where a listing is silent, we say so: those are questions to put to us in writing.

Two more houses are worth a look. Palais Mauresque has a Grand Salon for up to 20 guests, a meeting room, a two-hectare walled garden and a marble hammam for up to 8 people per session, run by a chef-led staff of five. Its 11 units include two garden lofts that are let as an option, so ask us how the price changes with them. Villas with a hammam are compared in Marrakech villas with a private hammam and spa.

  • The practice space: ask for the dimensions of the room, terrace or lawn, and lay out your mats on paper. Check where the shade falls at the hour you plan to teach.
  • Beds, not bedrooms: confirm which rooms have twin beds if participants who do not know each other will share.
  • Outside teachers and therapists: whether you may bring your own teacher, massage therapist or sound practitioner is agreed villa by villa. Ask us.
  • Full board: the chef’s per-head rate, what the menu covers, and how special diets are handled. Ask us for it in writing.
  • Repeat bookings: if you plan to come back every year, ask us about weekly and low-season rates.

When to schedule your retreat

The comfortable months for outdoor practice are March to May and September to November; from May the sun is strong by mid-morning, so start classes earlier. Month by month details are in our Marrakech weather guide. Two more dates matter for planning:

  • Ramadan 2027 is expected from about 8 February to 9 March 2027, with Eid al-Fitr on about 9 or 10 March. The dates are provisional and depend on the sighting of the moon. Villa staff may be fasting, so agree meal times in advance. See Ramadan in Marrakech.
  • Time zone: Morocco has been on GMT all year since 20 September 2026. Marrakech is on the same time as London in winter and one hour behind it from 28 March 2027, when the UK moves to British Summer Time. It is one hour behind Paris in winter.
Mountain village among green terraces and red earth hills
A village among green terraces in the Atlas foothills: the classic mid-week walk for a retreat group.

For the middle of the week, a walk in the foothills is the usual outing: see Setti Fatma and the Ourika waterfalls and a day in the Atlas Mountains. For airport runs for a whole group, compare airport transfer options and prices.

Contracts, deposits and the house rules

You book the villa in your own name or your business’s name, and you carry the risk of unsold places. Deposit, payment schedule and cancellation terms are set in each rental contract. Read deposits, contracts and cancellation before you open bookings, and make your participants’ terms at least as strict as the villa’s, so a late cancellation does not come out of your margin. What a staffed villa includes day to day is set out in what a fully staffed rental includes. If your group is a company rather than a class, see corporate retreats in a Marrakech villa.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to rent a villa for a yoga retreat in Marrakech?

Our villas suited to retreats start from €750 a night (Villa Lucia, 5 suites) to €3,940 a night (Villa Azarenka, up to 18 guests, with an 80 m² yoga studio). At “from” rates checked in October 2026, two to a room, accommodation comes to about €375 per participant for four nights at Villa Lucia with 8 people, and €1,724 for a week at Villa Azarenka with 16. Rates vary by season, so ask us for your dates.

What do yoga retreats in Marrakech charge participants?

Listings we opened on 14 October 2026 ranged from US$1,452 per person sharing for a 4-night private-villa retreat for 10 guests, to US$1,697 for 7 nights in a boutique hotel, and £1,035 for 7 nights in a twin room at an Ourika Valley yoga centre. Private rooms cost US$560 to US$730 more. Prices include meals and classes; what else is included varies.

How many participants do I need to break even?

It depends on your own costs. In our illustration, a week at Villa Hazel with food, a teacher and outings costs about €16,180. With 10 paying participants that is €1,618 each sold directly, or €1,973 through a marketplace taking 15% plus a 3% fee. With 8 participants, the break-even rises to €2,023 and €2,466.

Which Marrakech villa has a yoga studio?

Villa Azarenka, on the Route de l’Ourika, has an 80 m² gymnasium and yoga studio within a 200 m² fitness centre, with changing rooms, a hammam and a massage room. It sleeps up to 18 guests in 11 suites on an 8-hectare estate. Other villas offer terraces, lawns or salons for practice; ask us for the dimensions.

Can I bring my own teacher and massage therapist?

This is agreed villa by villa, so ask us before you book. Some listings state that yoga lessons, massages and hammam sessions can be arranged by the house, such as Villa Azarenka, which has a massage room with two beds and specialist staff by appointment. Remember to count a bed for your teacher when you plan your numbers.

A villa retreat is the rare format where a full house turns a modest margin into a good one. Send us your dates and your numbers, and we will tell you which villas fit and what they cost for your week.
