Tiled steam room of a hammam with marble benches and warm light
Tiled walls, marble benches and warm steam: the hammam is part of Moroccan daily life, and several of our villas have their own.

Twenty-four of our villas in and around Marrakech list a private hammam. They range from 4 to 22 bedrooms, and from €650 a night (Villa Harmony, Villa Idir, Villa Perla and Villa Petra) to €6,250 at Olive Palace. Some add a massage room, a gym or a heated pool. Below, all twenty-four side by side, what each listing actually says, how a hammam ritual works, and how to have a therapist come to the villa.

In short

  • 24 villas list a hammam; 6 of them also mention a massage room.
  • The most complete spas, by their own descriptions: Villa Athena (heated hammam, individual and couples’ massage rooms), Villa Azarenka (hammam, relaxation room, two-bed massage room, 200 m² fitness centre) and Villa Savannah (contemporary hammams, massage rooms, 6-metre Jacuzzi).
  • Smaller houses with a hammam and massage room: Villa Hazel (6 bedrooms, from €1,200) and Villa Luna (5 bedrooms, from €750).
  • A therapist for a massage or a scrub at the villa can usually be arranged: ask us when you book.
  • November to March is hammam season: from December to February, Marrakech nights average around 7 to 9 °C.

Every detail in this table comes from the villa’s own listing on our site; where a listing simply says “a hammam”, or only counts one in its property details, so do we. Prices are the published starting rate per night for the whole villa, in 2026.

Listed as “Spa”

A few other villas, among them Dar Louisa, Villa Marhaba and Villa Zagora, list a “Spa” in their property details without describing it or mentioning a hammam. Ask us what that covers in each house before you choose on it.

Where the spa is the point: Athena, Azarenka, Savannah

Three villas describe a spa that would not look out of place in a hotel, and all three suit large groups.

Villa Athena, on the Route d’Amizmiz, has 14 suites and “a full staff”. Its listing describes “a traditional Moroccan spa” with “a heated Hammam and individual and couples’ massage rooms”, which makes it the obvious choice for a hen party, a wellness weekend or a group of couples.

Villa Azarenka, 30 km south of Marrakech on the Route de l’Ourika, sleeps 18 in 4 master suites and 7 garden villas. Beyond the traditional hammam, relaxation room and two-bed massage room, it has a 200 m² fitness centre with an 80 m² gym and yoga studio, an 18 x 18 m heated stone pool and a clay tennis court. Spa staff come “by appointment”, and the head chef cooks for all diets: the closest thing in our collection to a private retreat. See also yoga and wellness retreats in a villa.

Villa Savannah, in the Palmeraie 10 minutes from the medina, spreads 22 rooms and villas over 18,000 m². Its spa has “contemporary Hammams, massage rooms and a 6-metre-long Jacuzzi”, and the estate holds more than 60 works of art.

Two more estates suit a large group. Palais Mauresque, 11 bedrooms in Ouled Hassoune, has a spa area “with its marble hammam accommodating up to 8 people per session”. Olive Palace, 20 suites in an olive grove 35 minutes from the centre, lists a hammam and “a Spa with treatments by appointment”, beside a 28 m infinity pool heated on request.

A hammam in a smaller villa: Hazel, Luna, Lucia, Perla

For a family or two couples, a private hammam matters more than a full spa. Villa Hazel, in the Palmeraie, has six suites, “a Moroccan hammam for two and massage room”, and a 15 m pool heated on request. Villa Luna, 20 minutes from the centre on the Route de Ouarzazate, has “a spa area, complete with an authentic hammam and a massage room”.

Two five-bedroom villas on the Amelkis golf course put the hammam right by the bedrooms. At Villa Harmony, from €650, two lower-level bedrooms “open directly to the hammam and jacuzzi”; at Villa Venus, from €900, the master suite has “its own private hammam”.

Two five-bedroom villas add a gym. Villa Lucia, on the Route de Fès, combines a private hammam, a home gym, an infinity pool heated on request and a chef for dinner. Villa Perla, in a secure residence on the Amelkis golf course, has “an authentic hammam and a small gym” and a pool heated on demand, from €650 a night.

What a Moroccan hammam ritual involves

The hammam is a steam bath, and in Morocco it has long been part of weekly life: each quarter of the medina traditionally has its own hammam, close to the mosque and the bakery. In a villa, you get the same ritual in private. It usually follows five steps, though the order varies a little from one attendant to the next.

  1. Step 1

    Steam

Ten minutes or so on the warm bench to relax and open the pores, with buckets of warm water poured over you.

  2. Step 2

    Black soap

Savon beldi, a soft olive-based soap, is spread over the skin and left for a few minutes.

  3. Step 3

    The kessa scrub

The attendant scrubs you from head to toe with a coarse glove, the kessa. It is vigorous; say if you want it gentler.

  4. Step 4

    Ghassoul clay

A mask of ghassoul, a mineral clay from the Atlas, on the skin and sometimes the hair, then rinsed off.

  5. Step 5

    Argan oil, rest and tea

A final rinse, argan oil or a massage, then a lie-down in a robe with a glass of mint tea.

Allow an hour or more for the full ritual, and avoid it straight after a big meal or a long day in the sun. Booking a therapist at the villa

A massage without leaving the house.

A private hammam is a room; the ritual needs someone to perform it. Villa Azarenka’s listing says its massage room is served by “specialist staff by appointment”, and Olive Palace offers spa treatments by appointment. For the other villas, ask us: a hammam attendant or massage therapist can usually come to the house for a scrub, a massage or a full ritual, and we confirm what is possible for your dates and group.

Book a day or two ahead, more for a group or a hen weekend, and say whether you want female or male therapists. Ask for products to be supplied, or buy your own black soap, kessa and argan oil in the souks. A tip of 20 to 50 dirhams for a hammam, or about 10% of the price of a massage, given to the therapist, is customary; more on tipping in life with villa staff.

Heating the hammam

A villa hammam takes time to heat. Tell the staff in the morning if you want it in the late afternoon, and ask how long it needs.

Heated pools and the best season for a spa villa

The hammam comes into its own in the cool months. From November to March, Marrakech days are mild but nights are cool, averaging around 7 to 9 °C from December to February, which is when a hot steam room, a fire in the salon and a heated pool turn a villa into a winter retreat. In July and August, when days reach 37 to 38 °C, use the hammam in the morning or after dark, and spend the afternoon in the pool.

Several villas pair the hammam with a heated pool: Villa Azarenka (heated stone pool), Villa Andalucía (heated semi-Olympic pool), Villa Eva, Villa Harmony, Villa Mansouria, Villa Nolan (one of two pools heated) and, on request, Villa Hazel, Villa Lucia, Villa Perla, Villa Petra and Olive Palace. Without a hammam, Villa Inocencia and Villa Mangue (heated all year) list heated pools, and Villa Aria’s infinity pool is heated on request. Frequently asked questions

Which Marrakech villas have a private hammam?

In our collection, 24 villas list a hammam: Villa Harmony, Villa Idir, Villa Perla, Villa Petra, Villa Lyla, Villa Luna, Villa Lucia, Villa Dar Tillili, Villa Venus, Villa Eva, Villa Asana, Villa Hazel, Villa Ellie, Villa Nolan, Villa Andalucía, Villa Jannah, Villa Mansouria, Domaine Beldi, Villa Athena, Palais Mauresque, Villa Azarenka, Villa Savannah, Palais Melody and Olive Palace. They range from 4 to 22 bedrooms and from €650 to €6,250 a night, published starting rates for 2026.

Which villa has the most complete spa?

By their own descriptions, Villa Azarenka (traditional hammam, relaxation room, two-bed massage room, 200 m² fitness centre, heated stone pool), Villa Athena (heated hammam with individual and couples’ massage rooms) and Villa Savannah (contemporary hammams, massage rooms and a 6-metre Jacuzzi). All three suit large groups, with 11, 14 and 22 bedrooms.

Can a massage therapist come to the villa?

Usually, yes. Villa Azarenka lists specialist spa staff by appointment and Olive Palace spa treatments by appointment; for the other villas, ask us: visiting hammam attendants and massage therapists are generally available in Marrakech. Book a day or two ahead, more for a group, and say whether you prefer a female or male therapist. A tip of 20 to 50 dirhams for a hammam, or about 10% for a massage, is customary.

What happens during a Moroccan hammam?

You warm up in the steam, black olive soap (savon beldi) is applied, then an attendant scrubs you with a coarse kessa glove. A mask of ghassoul clay from the Atlas follows, then a rinse, argan oil or a massage, and rest with mint tea. Allow an hour or more, and avoid it straight after a large meal.

When is the best time of year for a spa villa in Marrakech?

November to March. Days are mild, but nights average around 7 to 9 °C from December to February, so a hot hammam and a heated pool make the most difference. In summer, when days reach 37 to 38 °C, use the hammam in the morning or after dark. Spring and autumn are comfortable for everything.

A villa with its own hammam turns a rest day into a ritual. If you would like to know exactly what the spa is like in a villa you are considering, how long the hammam takes to heat or whether a therapist is free on your dates, ask us before you book.
