About three and a half hours from London, a little over three from Paris or Geneva: Marrakech works for a long weekend.

A long weekend in a Marrakech villa works from London, Paris or Geneva because the flight is only about three to three and a half hours and the time difference is an hour at most. Fly out on Thursday evening, have three nights in a private villa (the usual minimum stay at our villas), and fly home on Sunday. The trick is choosing a villa within about 20 to 30 minutes of the airport and booking the few things that sell out before you land.

In short

  • Direct flights: about 3 h 30 from London, a little over 3 hours from Paris or Geneva.
  • Our villas usually have a minimum stay of three nights: Thursday to Sunday fits exactly.
  • Menara airport is about 6 km from the centre; our villa listings give 20 to 35 minutes from the airport.
  • Book ahead: the airport transfer, Jardin Majorelle tickets (sold online only), a hammam and Saturday dinner.
  • Our shortlist: Villa Arwa or Villa Idir for two, Villa Noor for six, Villa Hazel for twelve.

Direct flights from London, Paris and Geneva

Marrakech Menara is served directly from all three cities, with several daily departures from London and Paris. Flight times are approximate and vary with the season and the aircraft.

Morocco keeps GMT+1 for most of the year but moves back an hour during Ramadan, so check your arrival time if you travel then. Routes, frequencies and other cities: direct flights to Marrakech from Europe.

Choosing flights

Aim for an outbound flight that lands before about 22:00 on Thursday, so you reach the villa for a late dinner rather than at midnight, and a Sunday flight in the late afternoon or evening, so you keep the morning by the pool. Passport control at Menara can take a while at busy times: see our Menara airport guide.

Making three nights work with a villa

Our villas usually have a minimum stay of three nights, which is exactly a Thursday-to-Sunday weekend. If your weekend falls over Christmas, New Year, a bank holiday or school half-term, ask us whether a longer minimum applies before you book flights.

A villa repays a short stay better than you might think. There is no check-in desk, no breakfast service to catch before 10:30 and no sharing the pool. The house is yours from arrival, the staff can have dinner ready, and a group of friends or two families split one price. What is included, and what is extra, is explained in what a fully staffed rental includes.

Airport transfer times to the villas

Passengers in a bright airport terminal
Through the terminal and into the car: most villas are 20 to 35 minutes away.

Menara airport sits about 6 km southwest of the city centre, and a taxi to the medina takes about 20 to 30 minutes. On a long weekend, every half-hour in the car counts, so these figures from our villa listings matter:

  • Amelkis golf estate: Villa Idir 20 minutes, Villa Inocencia 22 minutes
  • Four Seasons Marrakech: Villa Four Seasons 24 minutes
  • Palmeraie: Villa Noor 25 minutes, Villa Ellie 30 minutes, Villa Hazel 33 minutes
  • Route de Fès and Route de Ouarzazate: Villa Lucia and Villa Alice 35 minutes

Pre-book the transfer rather than queueing for a taxi on a Thursday night. In our 2026 transfer guide, a pre-booked private car to the centre costs about 150 to 250 dirhams and a minivan for up to seven people 250 to 400 dirhams; the Palmeraie can cost 50 to 100 dirhams more. Details: airport transfer options and prices.

The 3-night plan: Thursday evening to Sunday

This plan assumes a villa outside the medina, 15 to 25 minutes from the centre, and a group that wants one big outing, one cultural day and plenty of pool time.

  1. Thursday evening

Land, drive, dinner at the villa

Your driver meets you at arrivals. Ask for a light dinner to be ready at the house: a tagine and salads by the pool, then bed. Shopping can wait; groceries can be delivered before you arrive.

  2. Friday

The medina and the Jardin Majorelle

The Jardin Majorelle at 8:00 opening, then the souks and the Ben Youssef Madrasa. Lunch on a rooftop, back to the villa for a swim, and Jemaa el-Fna at dusk.

  3. Saturday

    Desert, then a dinner show

A dawn balloon flight or an afternoon in the Agafay desert (about an hour away) for camels or quads. Rest at the villa, then a dinner show in Hivernage.

  4. Sunday

    Slow morning, late flight

Late breakfast by the pool, a hammam or massage, and the palaces south of Jemaa el-Fna if there is time. Leave the villa two and a half to three hours before your flight.

A villa shortlist for 2, 6 and 12 guests

For two, Villa Arwa is a 1950s house redesigned by the architect Roger Herrera, on a quiet street by the Jardin Majorelle: the garden is on your doorstep for Friday morning. Villa Idir is on the front line of the Amelkis golf, 18 minutes from downtown, with a cook and staff from 8:00 to 23:00. For six, Villa Noor has five suites, each with its own bathroom, and a cook, a housekeeper and a caretaker; you pay only the groceries at cost plus delivery. Villa Four Seasons adds access to the hotel’s services. For twelve, Villa Hazel has six suites, two lounges, a bar, a hammam for two and a 15-metre pool heated on request, 20 minutes from downtown.

More choice: villas near the centre of Marrakech.

When to go for a long weekend

March to May and October to November are the most comfortable months, with average highs between about 23 and 29 °C, ideal for a weekend split between the medina and the pool. Winter weekends are sunny but cool, with nights around 6 to 8 °C, so choose a villa with a heated pool. In July and August, plan sightseeing for early morning and evening. Month by month: the best time to visit Marrakech.

Frequently asked questions

Is Marrakech good for a long weekend from London?

Yes. Direct flights from Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and Stansted take about three and a half hours, and Marrakech is only one hour ahead of the UK in winter and on the same time in summer. Leave on Thursday evening and return on Sunday for three nights, the usual minimum stay at our villas.

What is the minimum stay for a villa in Marrakech?

Our villas usually have a minimum stay of three nights, which fits a Thursday-to-Sunday weekend. At peak periods such as Christmas and New Year a longer minimum may apply, so ask us about the minimum for your dates before booking flights.

How long is the transfer from Marrakech airport to a villa?

According to our villa listings, 20 to 25 minutes to the Amelkis golf estate and the Four Seasons Marrakech, 25 to 33 minutes to villas in the Palmeraie, and about 35 minutes to the Route de Fès or Route de Ouarzazate. The airport is about 6 km from the city centre. Pre-book a private car or minivan.

How long is the flight from Paris or Geneva to Marrakech?

A little over three hours on a direct flight. From Paris, Air France, Royal Air Maroc and easyJet fly from Charles de Gaulle, and Transavia and Royal Air Maroc from Orly; from Geneva, easyJet flies direct, with Swiss on some dates. Marrakech is on the same time as Paris and Geneva in winter and one hour behind in summer.

What should I book before a weekend in Marrakech?

The airport transfer, Jardin Majorelle tickets (sold only online), a balloon flight if you want one, Saturday dinner or a dinner show, and a hammam. Also agree the villa’s meals and staff hours in advance, especially dinner on the night you arrive.

Three nights are enough for the medina, the desert and two long lunches by your own pool. Send us your dates and flight times, and we will suggest the villas that fit your weekend.
