Amelkis, Marrakech: Guide to Renting a Golf Estate Villa
Amelkis, in Marrakech, is a 27-hole golf course surrounded by residential areas on the Route de Ouarzazate, one of the city’s first golf residential estates and about 15 to 20 minutes by car from the centre according to our listings. We rent five villas there: four or five bedrooms each, from €650 a night, three of them with a heated pool or one heated on request.
This guide is for travellers who want a villa on a golf estate rather than in the Palmeraie or out in the countryside: families who like a quieter, residential setting, golfers, and groups planning Christmas or New Year in Marrakech. It explains what the Amelkis estate is, what public sources and our listings say about its security, how its villas compare with each other and with the other golf estates in our catalogue, and how to add a cook, a chef or a driver. Every villa fact below is taken from the villa’s own listing on this site; every public fact links to its source.
Just want to compare the houses? Our Amelkis villas selection shows the five Amelkis villas side by side, and our golf villas in Marrakech page adds the houses on the other golf estates.
- Amelkis villas cost a median of €162 per bedroom per night, against €200 for our 38 Marrakech villas as a whole.
- The five Amelkis villas add up to 23 bedrooms, but none has more than five, so a group of more than ten adults will usually need a larger house elsewhere.
- Only one Amelkis listing describes staff: Villa Idir, with a cook, a gardener and a technical manager from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. For the four others, a cook or driver is arranged on request.
What is Amelkis in Marrakech?
Amelkis is a golf club and a residential estate south-east of Marrakech. The Royal Moroccan Golf Federation lists the Amelkis Golf Club at Km 12 on the Route de Ouarzazate, with 27 holes designed by the American architect Cabell B. Robinson (FRMG, Amelkis Golf Club). The club’s own website gives the same 27 holes, three loops of between 3,609 and 3,718 yards, and a clubhouse restaurant open every day (Golf Amelkis). The course opened in 1995, according to the golf directory Where2Golf and the estate agency Holding Immo, and the villas were built around it in the years that followed, which makes Amelkis one of the first golf residential estates in Marrakech.
In practice, “Amelkis” on a villa listing means a house in one of the residential areas that surround the course. Some sit on the fairway itself, others a short drive from it inside the estate. Our listings use several wordings, and they are not interchangeable:
- Villa Idir is “on the front line of the Golf d’Amelkis”.
- Villa Harmony is “in the heart of the prestigious Amelkis Golf Course”, with views of the course and the mountains.
- Villa Inocencia is “located on the Golf of Amelkis”.
- Villa Perla is “nestled within a prestigious golf course in Marrakech”, in a residence its listing calls secure.
- Villa Venus is “located within the prestigious Amelkis Golf Resorts”, “just minutes away from the golf course”.
If a house right on the course matters to you, two listings say so most clearly: Villa Idir is “on the front line” of the Golf d’Amelkis, although its Proximities block still gives 20 minutes to the golf, and Villa Harmony gives the golf as on site, with views of the course. Ask us how far the nearest tee is from the house you choose. If you mostly want a calm residential setting with the golf nearby, all five qualify.
Is Amelkis gated, and what does “secure” mean for an Amelkis villa?
If you are looking for a villa “in a gated community”, it helps to separate what is said about the estate as a whole from what each villa’s listing actually promises, because the two are not the same thing.
The estate
One Marrakech estate agency describes Amelkis as a “domaine résidentiel sécurisé”, a secured residential estate (Holding Immo, Amelkis). That is a description from the property market, not a promise from us about a particular gate, guard post or access procedure, and none of our five Amelkis listings mentions a gate or a guard post. Arrangements can differ between the residential areas of the estate, so if a staffed gate is a condition of your booking, tell us when you ask for availability and we will confirm it for the specific villa before you pay anything.
What each listing says
We went through the text of all 38 Marrakech listings on this site for any wording about security. Only four use the word “secure”, and two of them are in Amelkis:
| Villa | Area | Exact wording in the listing |
|---|---|---|
| Villa Perla | Amelkis | “This secure residence ensures tranquility and privacy in an idyllic setting.” |
| Villa Venus | Amelkis | “As you step through the secure main entrance…” (the villa’s own front entrance) |
| Villa Deluxe Almaaden | Al Maaden golf estate | “Nestled within the secure and prestigious Al Maaden Golf Resort” |
| Villa Lyla | Route de l’Ourika | “in a private and secure residence”, 27 minutes from downtown |
Source: text of the listings on this site, read in October 2026. Three other listings mention security staff rather than a secure setting: Villa Azarenka (night guards), Villa Andalucía (a security manager) and Palais Mauresque (a guardian). None of these three is on a golf estate.
So, read literally: Villa Perla’s listing is the only Amelkis listing that calls its residence secure, and Villa Venus’s wording refers to the front door of the house, not to an estate gate. Villa Harmony, Villa Inocencia and Villa Idir say nothing either way. That does not mean they lack security; it means the listing does not state it, and we will not claim it for them. Ask us, and we will check with the owner.
For families, two other details in the listings are worth knowing. Villa Harmony stands on a 1,000 m² plot, and Villa Venus has “a discreet service entrance for staff”, which keeps the comings and goings of a cook or housekeeper away from the main door. For a wider look at choosing a house with children, see our guide to a family villa in Marrakech with kids.
The five Amelkis villas compared
The table gives the facts that decide most bookings: bedrooms, starting price, pool heating and drive times. Drive times come from the “Proximities” block of each listing, which is the owner’s own estimate by car.
| Villa | Bedrooms | From, per night | Pool, as listed | Minutes to centre / airport |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Villa Harmony | 5 | €650 | Heated pool | 15 / 20 |
| Villa Perla | 5 | €650 | Heated on request | 20 / 22 |
| Villa Idir | 4 | €650 | No pool mentioned in the listing | 18 / 20 |
| Villa Inocencia | 4 | €800 | Heated pool | 20 / 22 |
| Villa Venus | 5 | €900 | Large pool with water jets; heating not mentioned | Not given in the listing |

Villa Harmony: the most equipped for the price
Villa Harmony is a modern house of 640 m² on a 1,000 m² plot, with five bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. Two of the bedrooms on the lower level open onto a hammam and a jacuzzi. The pool is heated and fitted with speakers, the house has home automation, reversible air conditioning and a ping-pong table. At €650 a night for five bedrooms, it works out at €130 per bedroom, among the lowest in our whole catalogue.
Villa Perla: hammam and gym, heated pool on request
Villa Perla has five suites, each with a bathroom and a dressing room, two lounges plus a traditional Moroccan lounge, a hammam and a small gym. The pool can be heated on request. It is also the Amelkis listing that describes its residence as secure. Like Harmony, it starts at €650, or €130 per bedroom.
Villa Idir: on the course, with a cook
Villa Idir is built in Arab-Andalusian style around two patios with fountains. Its four single-storey suites have king-size or twin beds, and every bathroom has a dressing room, a large shower, a bathtub and separate toilets. It is the only Amelkis villa whose listing describes staff: they are present from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., with a cook for meals and breakfasts, and a gardener and a technical manager for daily maintenance. The listing describes the four suites as single-storey, which is worth knowing if anyone in your group prefers to avoid stairs.
Villa Inocencia: two suites and two bedrooms
Villa Inocencia has high ceilings, large bay windows and a heated pool. Its layout is two suites with a dressing room and private bathroom, plus two bedrooms that share a bathroom: a good match for two parents and children, less so for four couples who each want their own bathroom.
Villa Venus: three lounges and a private hammam
Villa Venus has five bedrooms, each with its own bathroom: one on the ground floor, four upstairs, three of which open onto terraces with views of the Atlas, and a master suite with its own private hammam. A basement TV lounge with a bathroom can serve as a playroom. Outside there is a summer kitchen, an outdoor dining table and a large pool with water jets. The dining area seats eight.
How Amelkis prices compare with the rest of Marrakech
Our guide to where to rent a villa in Marrakech already showed that the golf estates are among the cheapest areas per bedroom. Looking at Amelkis alone, and at villas of the same size, makes the point sharper:
- The five Amelkis villas have a median starting price of €650 a night and a median of €162 per bedroom.
- Across all 17 villas with four or five bedrooms in our Marrakech catalogue, the median is €800 a night and €180 per bedroom. Leave out the golf estates and the 11 remaining four- and five-bedroom villas have a median of €200 per bedroom.
- In the Palmeraie, the median is €223 per bedroom, and the cheapest villa starts at €660.
Put simply, an Amelkis villa costs roughly a fifth less per bedroom (median €162) than a four- or five-bedroom house outside the golf estates (median €200). What you give up is land: Harmony’s 1,000 m² plot is small next to the hectare-sized gardens of several Palmeraie and Route de l’Ourika villas. For the overall price ranges, see our villa rental pricing guide.
Amelkis, Al Maaden or Samanah?
Our catalogue has villas on two other golf estates, and one villa close to several courses. The table compares them on the facts that differ.
| Estate | The course (public sources) | Our villas there | Minutes to centre |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amelkis | 27 holes, Cabell B. Robinson, Km 12 Route de Ouarzazate | 5 villas, 4–5 bedrooms, from €650 | 15–20 |
| Al Maaden | 18 holes, par 73, Kyle Phillips | Villa Deluxe Almaaden, 3 bedrooms, from €450 | 15 |
| Samanah | 18 holes, par 72, Nicklaus Design, Km 14 Route d’Amizmiz | Villa Eva, 5 bedrooms, from €995 | 23 |
Sources: FRMG (Amelkis), Al Maaden Golf Resort, FRMG (Samanah); villa figures from our listings.
Al Maaden suits couples and small families who want hotel services. Villa Deluxe Almaaden is a three-bedroom villa inside the Al Maaden Golf Resort, which its listing calls “secure”, with “full hotel services, an on-site spa, and a gourmet restaurant”, a 45 m² private pool, a garden of 150 to 250 m², a fireplace patio with a retractable roof and a rooftop bar and kitchen. Golf is on site; the centre is 15 minutes away, the airport 20.
Samanah suits groups who want a view and a heated pool all year. From the rooftop sky bar of Villa Eva you look over the Samanah course, the estate’s lake and the Atlas. It has five suites with private bathrooms, a shaded terrace with a table for ten, Japanese-style gardens and a heated pool with an outdoor bar. Its listing gives 5 minutes to the golf, 23 to the centre and 25 to the airport.
Near several courses, with services: Villa Asana, on the Route d’Amizmiz, has seven bedrooms and is 5 minutes from the Noria, Royal Palm and Samanah courses according to its listing. Daily housekeeping is included, and breakfast, half board, full board and chauffeured car services are available at extra cost. It is the obvious choice for a golf group too large for any Amelkis house. To pick a course, see our comparison of the best golf courses in Marrakech and our page on golf in Marrakech.
Who is an Amelkis villa right for?
Families
The houses are of a manageable size (four or five bedrooms), the listings put a supermarket 9 to 10 minutes away for four of the five, and the setting is residential rather than rural. Villa Venus’s basement lounge and Villa Harmony’s ping-pong table are practical with children. Check pool fencing or covers with us before booking if you travel with toddlers: none of the five listings mentions them.
Golfers
Villa Idir is on the front line of the course, and Villa Harmony looks over it. The Amelkis course has 27 holes, so a week’s stay can mix its three loops with rounds at Al Maaden, Samanah or the Royal Golf.
Christmas and New Year groups
Late December is cool: at Marrakech-Menara, the average daily maximum in December is 20.1 °C and the average minimum 7.3 °C (WMO climate normals 1991–2020, station 60230). A heated pool therefore matters more than usual, which points to Villa Harmony or Villa Inocencia (heated) or Villa Perla (heated on request). Our guide to heated pool villas in winter explains what to ask, and our December guide covers the festive season in the city.
For the classic stay of 27 December to 2 January (six nights), the published starting prices give at least €3,900 for Harmony, Perla or Idir, €4,800 for Inocencia and €5,400 for Venus, before any extras. Split across five bedrooms, Harmony and Perla come to €780 per bedroom for the six nights. These totals are a floor, not a quote: they use the published starting prices, and prices over Christmas and New Year are higher, so ask us for the exact price for your dates. The usual minimum stay in our villas is three nights (some ask for more at peak periods), and each villa can host only one group over the holidays, so ask as early as you can. Our New Year’s Eve in Marrakech guide covers dinners and parties if you prefer to go out on the night.
Large groups
An Amelkis villa is not the answer for 12 or more people: the largest has five bedrooms. For bigger groups, see our large villas for groups.
Can I add a chef and a driver to an Amelkis villa?
Yes, but read the listings carefully, because they differ. Only Villa Idir includes staff in its description: a cook, a gardener and a technical manager, available from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. The other four Amelkis listings do not describe staff. That does not rule out a cook: our concierge service books staff, transport, excursions, restaurants and treatments, and can arrange “a chef at home” (about us). Ask for it when you request availability, so we can confirm the arrangement and its cost before you book. If a cook already on the team matters more to you than the golf, see our staffed villas in Marrakech, whose listings describe a cook or a full team.
A driver works the same way. Our agency can collect you at Marrakech-Menara airport and drive you to the villa; the price depends on the number of people and the type of car. A driver for the rest of the stay is arranged through the concierge as an extra. With Amelkis 15 to 20 minutes from the centre according to the listings, a car with a driver is the simplest way to reach the medina in the evening and come back without looking for a taxi. Our guide to Marrakech airport transfers compares the options.
For what a cook, housekeeper, butler and driver each do, and who pays for groceries, see our guide to fully staffed villas with chef and driver.
How to book an Amelkis villa
- Shortlist on facts. Number of bedrooms with their own bathroom, heated pool or not, staff included or not. The table above does most of the work.
- Send one request with everything. Dates, number of adults and children, and every condition that matters to you: a staffed estate gate, a cook, a driver, airport pick-up. One complete message gets a complete answer.
- Get the conditions in writing. Before paying, check the deposit, the cancellation terms and what is included. Our article on deposits, contracts and cancellation lists what to check.
Send your dates through our contact page, compare the five houses on our Amelkis villas selection, or browse all our villas in Marrakech first.
Frequently asked questions
Is Amelkis a gated community?
We cannot confirm it from our listings. Public sources say little: one Marrakech estate agency, Holding Immo, describes Amelkis as a “domaine résidentiel sécurisé” (a secured residential estate), and none of our five Amelkis listings mentions a gate or a guard post. Villa Perla’s listing calls its residence secure, and Villa Venus mentions a secure main entrance to the house itself. Arrangements can differ between the residential areas of the estate, so ask us for each villa: we check with the owner before you pay.
How far is Amelkis from the centre of Marrakech?
Our Amelkis listings give 15 to 20 minutes by car to the city centre and 20 to 22 minutes to Marrakech-Menara airport. The golf club’s address is Km 12 on the Route de Ouarzazate.
Which Amelkis villa has a heated pool?
Villa Harmony and Villa Inocencia list a heated pool, and Villa Perla’s pool is heated on request. Villa Venus’s listing mentions a large pool with water jets but says nothing about heating; Villa Idir’s listing does not mention a pool, so ask us.
Which Amelkis villa is on the golf course?
Villa Idir is on the front line of the Amelkis course, and Villa Harmony and Villa Inocencia are on the course according to their listings. Villa Venus is inside the Amelkis estate, a few minutes from the course.
Can I get a private chef and driver with an Amelkis villa?
Yes, on request. Villa Idir already has a cook from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.; for the other villas, our concierge can arrange a chef at home and a driver at extra cost, confirmed before you book. Villas with a cook already on the team are listed on our staffed villas page.
How much does an Amelkis villa cost for New Year?
At least €3,900 (Harmony, Perla or Idir) to €5,400 (Venus) for six nights from 27 December to 2 January, before extras. These totals use the published starting prices and are a floor, not a quote: prices over Christmas and New Year are higher, so ask us for the exact price for your dates.
